About Us

Richard Fox and Lauren Yason are composers, multi-instrumentalists, producers and songwriters working from Blacklight Studios in North London.

Richard and Lauren met in 1996 at University whilst studying Music Composition and Performance and have developed their music relationship over the past decade. Richard studied music at the Welsh College of Music and Drama and spent his formative years as musician in a number of bands gigging in, and around, London and the South Wales area specialsing in piano/keyboards and vocals. Lauren was educated at the Arts Educational School, Chiswick studying musical theatre and vocal technique.

Blacklight Studios was established by Richard and Lauren in July 2004 and have delveloped a strong client base within both the film and television industries. The studio operates from Logic Pro 9 on Apple Mac Pro via MOTU 828 MkII audio interface, monitored on Genelec 8050A. The studio can also mix up to 5.1 sound for cinema.

The studio specialises in vocal and acoustic instrument recordings, including piano, guitars, bass and a variety of world percussion and instrumentation. The system also runs a wide range of samples, including the Vienna Orchestral Cube, linked to an eighty-eight key Studiologic weighted keyboard.

Blacklight Studios is available for recording sessions/mixing/post-production and voiceover work. Prcies include an sound engineer. Vocal tuition

Private vocal tution is available with Lauren for all ages from 7 years old, whether you're intending to enter the music industry as a professional or learn just for fun. 

Lauren specialises in pop music, musical theatre and jazz with a classical training.

Lauren supports students from G.C.S.E to degree level with performance modules and examinations for the Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music.
